Online Live Streamings

Some of us can't afford to apply for cable shows or pay for ppv boxing shows. You would like to watch Manny Pacquiao fights live. You want to watch Mayweather vs Marquez fight, but you are not able to because you have less budget. If you have computer and a fast internet connection, then you are at an advantage.

Try Sopcast, and look for channels in Google.

After you install Sopcast, you can just login as anonymous. Then type the address of the online streaming in the address bar. Then you will be having a live streaming!

That's how easy it is. Have fun.

Problems in Installing Windows part 1

The first problem I will tell you when installing Windows is when your Operating System just got crashed after restarting or shutdown.

Usually the computer looses ntldr. When you boot up your pc sometimes there will be a message showing you that ntldr is missing. Now, there are some reasons why that happened. One is, it was lost, deleted by a virus or you accidentally moved it away from your boot drive. Another is, your primary drive have been formatted. It obviously looses all the files and then there ntldr now missing. This problem can be easily solved. Just reinstall a fresh copy of your windows system that you like or if you are wise enough to copy and paste it, that's also a good way-- but not recommended.

Sometimes, the computer cannot access your system configuration. You can't boot up your PC. It's highly recommended that you reinstall your System.

Now there are also problems that you can encounter during reinstallation. Like for example, your FAT formatted drive suddenly crashed, there are times during installation that tells you that windows cannot copy something like this or that. I found a solution to that, and it's this:

1. When you choose the drive to install there is an option either to delete that partition and create partition. Now you choose delete the particular partition, where your previous system was installed. - WARNING! it will delete all the contents inside that drive - . After deleting create partition then just follow instructions.
2. After creating a partition, it will prompt you to format the drive. If your previous drive format was Fat then change it to NTFS, or vice versa. ( I used quick format here. It doesn't really matter ).
3. Now you can copy files from your installer to the drive. Just follow instructions and you're done.

This is really based on my personal experience. HAha. I just recently crashed my computer when I restarted it. I don't know why, but I guess that was a crash in my Hard Drive. Dang! That's all folks. Till nxt time.

Limit the Login Hours of Windows XP users

Wondering how to limit the hours a particular Win XP User can have? It's easy!

1. Start > Run > cmd
2. See examples below

1 - net user username here i.e. Jin/time:M-F,08:00-17:00
- above means that user Jin can login from 8:00-17:00 hours only during Mondays to Fridays.

2 - net user Jin /time:M-F,8am-5pm
- above is specific in the time.

3 - net user Jin /time:M,4am-5pm;T,1pm-3pm;W-F,8:00-17:00
- above is more specific in the date and time.

4 - net user Jin /time:all
- above means this user can always log on anytime he/she wants.

That's all guys.. Hope you learned :D

How to change Thumbnail Appearance

tested in Windows XP SP2

Hello guys. Here is another tweak that can help you easily browse photos in your computer. We need to change the quality and size a bit so that you can browse the photos faster in a thumbnail view.

This is a very easy tweak. Hope you will get it in your first try.

1. Open your registry editor. Start > Run and type "regedit.exe". Hit Enter.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft \ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer
3. Add a new DWORD Value and name it Thumbnail Quality.
4. Set its value between 32 and 256.
5. Next. Add a new DWORD Value and name it ThumbnailQuality.
6. Set it's value between 50 and 100.

You're done!

Note: This tweak was based on a tutorial I read sometime before. When I googled this topic again, the results were not what I expected to have. And I tried a much more specific search "How to change Thumbnail size and quality" there displayed the same topic as mine. But it's not the site where I first read the tweak.

Teamviewer

I was looking for something like this before. Glad that my friend from Israel shared to me this wonderful application. It's teamviewer. You can do a lot of thing with teamviewer. You can remotely control your friends computer, repair it even when you're at home. You can easily transfer files from one computer from any where in the world.

Both computers must have installed the same application. The other unit will connect to the other unit through the given ID and password. It's easy to use actually. It has a user friendly interface even newbies can easily understand.

One thing.. Teamviewer is free! Visit site http://www.teamviewer.com/

Change start menu text to anything you like

tested on XP Sp2 only

Ok, so you would like to change your start menu button text to anything you like.
It is very easy.

In this tutorial, we will need this tool. "ResHack".

You can download this over the internet. Just Google it or if you're lazy enough not to do that. Just click the download link below.

Now you have it.

It's a very useful tool not just for this tutorial.

Let's get started.

1. Run ResHack.
2. Open windows explorer.exe. (you can find it in C:\Windows\explorer.exe or any drive where you put your windows folder ).
3. Click String Table in the tree list.
4. Expand it. Look for string 37. Again, expand it.
5. Click 1033. Now you see in the right side. Edit the text between the qoutes in the line 578. By default, it has the value "start" as it displays in your start menu button.
6. Change it to whatever you like.
7. Save As it in your windows folder. Do not use Save. Use Save As. Save it having a different name. like instead of explorer.exe you'll use explorer_modified.exe or whatsoever.

(note: it's better to always backup system files before trying to modify it. another thing. String 37 is for users who use the XP layout. If you're using the classic layout, choose String 38. and line 595.)

To the registry.
Now you have already a modified explorer.exe we can now proceed to editing the registry.
8. Open your registry editor again. Start> run .. type in "regedit" (without the qoutes of course).
9. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon
10. Locate Shell in the right side, and then double click it. Change it's value from Explorer.exe to the name of the modified explorer.exe you did. Just like from our example a while ago. explorer_modified.exe or whatsoever again.
11. Exit Registry editor. And restart, or logout your computer. Then see the results.

If you failed to notice the changes, take this action:
-Change both the text "start" in Strings 37 and 38. and follow the steps again.

Hope you will get it at your first try!..

Create new Shell command

I have tried this in XP SP2, works fine..

Hello guys,
I've been trying to create a new shell command and I was successful. Actually, I have crashed my test desktop. Haha. I was so glad it was just a test desktop. Not the real computer I've been using. Well, it is not a loss for me, crashing that desktop. It was actually crashed already, just repaired it so I can still use it in trying some dangerous things. Haha.

Back to the tweak. Well, it really worked. I was so happy, I had fun and I want to share it with you.

Here's a sample :

Instructions:
1. Open regedit . START>RUN type regedit. Press enter.
2. Locate
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\Shell
*note if there is no Shell key in the * Key. Create one by right clicking
then New -> key name it Shell
3. Create a new key inside Shell, name it whatever you want. Then, set the default value to anything you like.. In my example, I set it to
" zmrac.blogspot.com try it! =p haha. it works.... " (without the quotes of course).

You're actually done there, but there's still more. What if they click on that shell? Are there any actions?

If there's no command given. it will generate an error.. see the image below.

(P.S. Sorry for the image.. I dunno what's the problem with blogspot upload images.. hahaha.. )

To add a command.

1. Under the key that you created after the Shell key, or where you set your default value.. Create a new key, name it Command
2. Set the default value to a location of an application you want to open or execute after clicking your new Shell.. for example.. "D:\Games\Game.exe" ( now with qoutes included! ).

Now it's complete. Have fun! hahaha... Remember Google's all time motto.. "Don't be evil". You know what I mean. :p

Manipulating Default Setup Locations

XP SP2 only

Noticed that your system drive is already full? This maybe due to installing applications in the drive even if it's already full.

Here's one way to prevent this problem. But, before you do this you must know when will you apply this. You can apply this if the default or the system drive is getting full. For example, your free space in your drive where C:\Program Files\ is located, is already less than 1.0Gb, then this maybe a good time to do this.

What will we do here is to change the default location for installing applications

1. Go to your registry editor. START->RUN type regedit
2. Go to this location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
3. Look for ProgramFilesDir
4. Right-click on it and click modify
5. Type the new location for installing apps and press enter.

Your done! It's better to restart your computer after the edit for it to take effect.
